If you are wondering what RedSleeve Linux is, you can read the summary here.

RedSleeve Linux is now in alpha release stage. Please feel free to take it for a test drive. You can find the rootfs and the packages here:

Fast mirror: http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/ftp.redsleeve.org/pub/

Slow primary site: http://ftp.redsleeve.org/pub/yum/os/

Some things are still a little rough around the edges (e.g. packages aren’t signed yet), but most things are there and working fine. Because we believe in eating our own dog food this site runs on a DreamPlug running RedSleeve Linux.

The vast majority of packages in RedSleeve are unchanged from the upstream distribution RedSleeve is based on. Some packages aren’t applicable on ARM, so they are omitted. Some are applicable but we haven’t gotten around to fixing them to get them to build yet (OpenOffice is the main example of such a temporary omission). We are hoping to add it to the repository in the near future. A total of 109 packages from the upstream distribution had to be either patched in order to get them to build and work on the ARM architecture, or had to be changed in order to remove the upstream branding to comply with the required policies from the upstream distribution. You can find these in the SRPMS/changed subdirectory.

If you are interested in this project or have any questions about it, please sign up to the users mailing list for general discussion, reporting bugs, and help requests.

Additional resources (bugzilla, wiki) will be available shortly. In the meantime, take the rootfs for a spin and see how it works for you.
